Neutrosophic Sets and Systems, Vol. 87, 2025

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems, Vol. 87, 2025

Autor: Florentin Smarandache , Mohamed Abdel-basset , Maikel Leyva Vazquez

Número de Páginas: 1135

This volume of “Neutrosophic Sets and Systems” is an international journal that features publications on advanced studies in neutrosophy, neutrosophic sets, neutrosophic logic, neutrosophic probability, and neutrosophic statistics. The document highlights neutrosophy as a branch of philosophy that examines the origin, nature, and scope of neutralities, considering every notion or idea along with its opposite and a spectrum of neutralities . This approach generalizes classical and fuzzy logic by introducing a degree of indeterminacy. The included papers demonstrate applications of these concepts in diverse fields, such as vocational training, sustainable tourism, medical diagnosis, employee mental health, social media information dissemination, and humanitarian logistics.

Discrétisations variationnelles de problèmes aux limites elliptiques

Discrétisations variationnelles de problèmes aux limites elliptiques

Autor: Christine Bernardi , Yvon Maday , Franscesca Rapetti

Focus on Boson Research

Focus on Boson Research

Autor: A. V. Ling

Número de Páginas: 384

Bosons are particles which form totally-symmetric composite quantum states. As a result, they obey Bose-Einstein statistics. The spin-statistics theorem states that bosons have integer spin. Bosons are also the only particles which can occupy the same state as another. All elementary particles are either bosons or fermions. Gauge bosons are elementary particles which act as the carriers of the fundamental forces such as the W vector bosons of the weak force, the gluons of the strong force, the photons of the electromagnetic force, and the graviton of the gravitational force. Particles composed of a number of other particles (such as protons or nuclei) can be either fermions or bosons, depending on their total spin. Hence, many nuclei are in fact bosons. While fermions obey the Pauli exclusion principle: "no more than one fermion can occupy a single quantum state", there is no exclusion property for bosons, which are free to (and indeed, other things being equal, tend to) crowd into the same quantum state. This explains the spectrum of black-body radiation and the operation of lasers, the properties of superfluid helium-4 and the possibility of bosons to form Bose-Einstein...

Simulation and Optimization of Digital Circuits

Simulation and Optimization of Digital Circuits

Autor: Vazgen Melikyan

Número de Páginas: 371

This book describes new, fuzzy logic-based mathematical apparatus, which enable readers to work with continuous variables, while implementing whole circuit simulations with speed, similar to gate-level simulators and accuracy, similar to circuit-level simulators. The author demonstrates newly developed principles of digital integrated circuit simulation and optimization that take into consideration various external and internal destabilizing factors, influencing the operation of digital ICs. The discussion includes factors including radiation, ambient temperature, electromagnetic fields, and climatic conditions, as well as non-ideality of interconnects and power rails.

Nonplussed!

Nonplussed!

Autor: Julian Havil

Número de Páginas: 213

Math—the application of reasonable logic to reasonable assumptions—usually produces reasonable results. But sometimes math generates astonishing paradoxes—conclusions that seem completely unreasonable or just plain impossible but that are nevertheless demonstrably true. Did you know that a losing sports team can become a winning one by adding worse players than its opponents? Or that the thirteenth of the month is more likely to be a Friday than any other day? Or that cones can roll unaided uphill? In Nonplussed!—a delightfully eclectic collection of paradoxes from many different areas of math—popular-math writer Julian Havil reveals the math that shows the truth of these and many other unbelievable ideas. Nonplussed! pays special attention to problems from probability and statistics, areas where intuition can easily be wrong. These problems include the vagaries of tennis scoring, what can be deduced from tossing a needle, and disadvantageous games that form winning combinations. Other chapters address everything from the historically important Torricelli's Trumpet to the mind-warping implications of objects that live on high dimensions. Readers learn about the colorful...

Introduction to Quantum Mechanics

Introduction to Quantum Mechanics

Autor: Harald J W Müller-kirsten

Número de Páginas: 826

After a consideration of basic quantum mechanics, this introduction aims at a side by side treatment of fundamental applications of the Schrödinger equation on the one hand and the applications of the path integral on the other. Different from traditional texts and using a systematic perturbation method, the solution of Schrödinger equations includes also those with anharmonic oscillator potentials, periodic potentials, screened Coulomb potentials and a typical singular potential, as well as the investigation of the large order behavior of the perturbation series. On the path integral side, after introduction of the basic ideas, the expansion around classical configurations in Euclidean time, such as instantons, is considered, and the method is applied in particular to anharmonic oscillator and periodic potentials. Numerous other aspects are treated on the way, thus providing the reader an instructive overview over diverse quantum mechanical phenomena, e.g. many other potentials, Green's functions, comparison with WKB, calculation of lifetimes and sojourn times, derivation of generating functions, the Coulomb problem in various coordinates, etc. All calculations are given in...
