El tema de raza en América Latina ha tomado fuerza en los últimos años. Se trata de reconocer que las clasificaciones raciales han moldeado la forma de ordenar las sociedades de la región, de percibir a sus miembros y de entender cómo lo han hecho. El asunto no había recibido la atención que merece por varias razones. La evidente importancia de las divisiones de clase en la región hizo que esta categoría tomara preeminencia en las décadas de 1960 y 1970, cuando las ciencias sociales adquirieron mucha fuerza académica. Además, la idea muy arraigada de que las relaciones entre diferentes grupos raciales es armónica hacía ver el tema como insignificante. Por otra parte, el convencimiento al que se llegó en la segunda mitad del siglo xx de que las supuestas razas no corresponden a realidades objetivas (aunque las clasificaciones raciales sean muy reales), hacía su estudio, primero poco válido y luego indeseable, pues podía tener el efecto de reforzar categorías que enfatizan desigualdades. La independencia de México es el acontecimiento fundacional que ha producido casi todos los símbolos patrios y muchas de las ideas e instituciones centrales de la nación moderna. Casi desde su origen, y hasta la fecha, cientos de libros han dado cuenta de la lucha emancipatoria y sus consecuencias, pero pocos han hecho una síntesis tan acertada y reunido tan amplia bibliografía como esta obra. La bibliografía que acompaña a estos dos ensayos conforma una guía para transitar por los textos clave generados en los siglos XIX y XX.
El progresivo abandono de las prácticas tradicionales en el monte, y por tanto la acumulación de combustible forestal en el monte, hacen que las condiciones para que puedan producirse Grandes Incendios Forestales aumenten. Para mejorar la eficacia de los dispositivos contra incendios, es imprescindible saber qué ha sucedido durante el incendio, para lo que es básico conocer el comportamiento del fuego a lo largo del mismo, así como las distintas condiciones que se ha ido encontrando en cada momento. Esto permitirá valorar las actuaciones realizadas por los medios de extinción y diseñar planes de ataque alternativos a posteriori, para que cuando se den incendios de similares características ayuden a tomar las decisiones adecuadas. El consumo de cannabis en España es significativo, involucrando a personas de entre 15 y 64 años. En 2022, el 40,9% de los españoles había probado el cannabis alguna vez, y el 10,6% lo consumió en los últimos 12 meses. Aunque el consumo ocasional es estable, el consumo diario aumentó del 1,7% en 2007 al 2,8% en 2022. Los jóvenes de 15 a 24 años muestran una mayor prevalencia, con un 22,6% reportando consumo en el último año. El consumo es más común entre hombres (14,4%) que entre mujeres (6,8%). En 2022, el 1,9% de la población de 15 a 64 años (aproximadamente 600.000 personas) tuvo un consumo problemático de cannabis. Sin embargo, entre aquellos que han consumido cannabis en los últimos 12 meses y han contestado la escala CAST, la prevalencia de consumo problemático se sitúa en el 21,5%.En 2021, 12.338 personas iniciaron tratamiento por abuso o dependencia de cannabis, la mayoría hombres y muchos menores de 18 años. The family Bulimulidae is a dominant land snail family in the Neotropics, with more than 1000 nominal taxa described. Revisionary work has only partially been done, but many genera need further revisionary work for which a sound taxonomic basis is needed. Type specimens for more than 400 taxa of this family are present in the Natural History Museum, London, U.K., and are documented in this paper. For each taxon the relevant literature is cited, type locality, label, the provenance of the specimens, and the current systematic position; photographs of nearly all type specimens and labels are also provided.

Sustainability is a fairly old concept, born in the 18th century in the field of forestry, within a mono-functionality perspective. The concept has considerably evolved in the last few years towards a multi-functionality context, with applications reported in practically all areas of economic interest. On the other hand, modern sustainability is a complex problem, for two reasons: a) The multiplicity of functions of a very different nature involved in the process and b) The manner in which different segments of the society or stakeholders perceive the relative importance of these functions. Chile had long forgotten about the existence of the country's Black population when, in 2003, the music and dance called the tumbe carnaval appeared on the streets of the city of Arica. Featuring turbaned dancers accompanied by a lively rhythm played on hide-head drums, the tumbe resonated with cosmopolitan images of what the African Diaspora looks like, and so helped bring attention to a community seeking legal recognition from the Chilean government which denied its existence. Tumbe carnaval, however, was not the only type of music and dance that Afro-Chileans have participated in and identified with over the years. In Styling Blackness in Chile, Juan Eduardo Wolf explores the multiple ways that Black individuals in Arica have performed music and dance to frame their Blackness in relationship to other groups of performers—a process he calls styling.
